Specific strategies
“Getting out of the houses”
It is the strategy to go to the places where the children, and adolescents live, study and work. That is, in their neighborhoods, schools, the market and garbage dumps. The inter-disciplinary team of the organization goes to these places in order to promote cultural and recreational activities and facilitate spaces to reflect about the prevention of dangerous situations and the understanding of the rights.

Including and participative leaderships:
It is a strategic definition of a new leadership. A collective and shared leadership, where children and adolescents recognize their own qualities, capacities and skills as wells as those of the others. In this way, the leadership is legitimate and besides, everyone feels valued and part of it.

“Meter el gusanito” (“positive infection”)
It is a definition we give to the process of “positively infect” other persons with our philosophy and encourage them to get involved in the change processes. We “positively infect” adults to change the world. It means to change the attitude concerning the children and adolescents; that is, by listening to them, respecting them and taking them into account when taking decisions which affect them. And we “positively infect” children and adolescents to be the leading actors of their own changes and social transformation in order to build the world they want to live in.

Paso atrás( “Step back”):

This method integrates the adults´ attitude and the necessary elements that they should take into account so that the children and adolescents achieve their autonomy and the fulfillment of their rights.  That is, we as adults take a  step backwards letting the children and adolescents step forwards and fully develop. The essential elements are:

· Believing in the children and adolescents´ capacities.

· Establishing a symmetric, dialogical and respectful relationship with the children and adolescents.

· Playing a facilitator-role.

· Assuming the attitude of “not to know” (nobody knows what is better for the others, it is the person him/herself who is expert in her/his situation and knows how to improve it).

· Letting children try doing it by themselves, allowing themselves to make mistakes.

· Monitoring the course of the results (both within and outside the organization), facilitating the reflection of what worked and didn’t, of what it is necessary to improve next time.

· Being attentive to the development process of the children and adolescents´ capacities in order to have the feeling of when they require our support and when we have to step backwards.

“Par a Par” (“Peer to Peer”)

The methodology of “Peer to Peer” provides guidelines for the children and adolescents themselves to reinforce the development of the capacities of their peers, that is to say that these same children train other children.
